Therefore, we reserve the right to delete comments and ban users as needed to keep the comment threads here civil, substantive, and respectful. This means that oppressive attitudes and behaviours including but not limited to misogyny, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, racism, fatphobia, ableism, and general bigotry are not welcome here nor will be tolerated on this site.
Here are some example of acceptable comments:
Share smart, informed ideas that contribute further to the story
Provide useful and constructive criticism. Spot a typo or an error, let us know and we will correct it.
Demonstrate and share the intelligence, wisdom, and humor we know you possess
Don’t feed the trolls. Instead please downvote and flag the comments instead.
Below are some examples of comments that we’re going to do our best to curtail:
Promoting your own brand, product, blog, or event. If you’d like us to share your story please reach out to us first using our contact form.
Impersonating authors or other commenters.
Comments that make it clear you didn’t read the article. Enraged that we didn’t mention X in a story about Y? Slow down and be sure to read the article or blog in full.
Comments that are completely out of the left field. Sometimes discussions veer off a bit but are still related to the original subject. That is fine. Hijacking the conversation to promote off-topic commentary is not acceptable here.
Threats — no matter how vague — against the author or other commenters.
As noted above things such as racism, sexism, homophobia, you get the drift are not tolerated.
